Many congratulations to our virtual marathon and half marathon winners for the year 16/17. Results below. Please note trophies will be awarded following the MMAC Relays, at National Forest Cycling Centre, Swadlincote on 23rd April. Please be there if you can!

Dave McNamee Memorial 10k

From Anne & Norman Wilson, Beyond the Limitations:
On Sunday 2nd April 2017 we are holding the Dave McNamee Memorial 10Km Run which will be held annually. There will be a memorial cup which will be given to the overall winner of the race for 12 months.
It would be appreciated if as many runners from your club will turn out to run in this event in memory of Dave.

The Gloucester AAA have incorporated their 10k Champs into this race.

Many Midland Masters athletes will have known and liked Dave as the person who did so much for the sport through his tireless efforts for Cheltenham Harriers, the Gloucestershire AAA, ERRA and the Midlands Counties Athletics Association.

Dave had a long and distinguished running career with Cheltenham Harriers setting a half marathon PB of 71 minutes, and a marathon PB of 2:32, and it was during this time that we became great friends
Dave was my Assistant Event Manager of the National Road Relay Championships at Sutton Park Birmingham between 2001 to 2012.He also worked with me at many other National events including the British Athletic, England Athletics, AAA of England & Inter Counties Championships plus the Midland Counties Athletic Association Road Relay Championships.
Dave generously gave his advice to many clubs within the county and he selflessly provided a result service free of charge to many clubs within the county.

Midland Masters did excellently coming 3rd overall with the men’s team in 2nd place and the women in 4th. Well done to all who took part.

Info from BMAF re:kit/Daegu

The kit is produced by Ridgeway Sports/Ron Hill Sports and will be available from Vince Wilson at all the main masters Lee Valley meetings on February 12th, 19th, 26th and March 11th/12th.
All sizes, men’s and women’s, will be on sale.
Kit can also be ordered by post by ringing 01623 551452.
Prices are:
Vests, shorts and short sleeved tee shirts  £20
Long sleeved tee shirts                                  £22
Lycra shorts and tracksters                           £25
The website hasn’t yet got any pictures of the kit but we are pressing for it.
 
Another important piece of information, in case you have not already aware of it, relates to medical services for GB competitors at Daegu – there is a news item with the details on the BMAF website.  It is also on the Fixtures page and whilst looking it there, everyone going to Daegu should remind themselves of the advice labeled “PLEASE READ”.  We are about to update with clarification on the rules regarding the wearing of official BMAF kit and what to expect if you get called for drug testing.
