Colin Simpson Memorial Handicap
The March 3rd Centurion Grand Prix contested around the leafy shores of the Babb’s Mill lakes proved the ideal venue for the second running of the Colin Simpson Memorial Handicap as 18 of the Midland Masters club members lined up in mild weather conditions alongside 76 other athletes from all over the midlands .
Fast times were the order of the day on the accurately measured course with Bourneville Harriers Dean Parker clocking 26.17 the best 5 mile time by a M40 in the UK to date this year. Brian Dawson Birchfield Harriers M80 found the chink in the handicappers armour to win the Colin Simpson Handicap Trophy in 20.57 by a massive 78 seconds from Centurions Theresa Woolley’s 22.15 with Mick Smedley; Derby AC third 22.45.
To bring an end to a successful days racing, the CS trophy and long list of prizes chosen by Margaret Simpson were out handed by MMAC Club President Adrian Lloyd.

This is a great event and hopefully should attract more participants from the MMAC in future.
