Report on Annual Social at Solihull Indoor Bowls Club, 14.1.11
They came from near and far – well, Derby and Leicester anyway – to demolish the buffet and bowl their best. There were superb prizes for the winning team and a raffle. And a good time was had by all, or so I hope. Since all bar one honourable exception were club committee members or their guests, we’ll surely hear at the next committee meeting from any dissatisfied participants!
But ‘all’ was a grand total of 14, including guests, out of a club with over 800 members. Fortunately the event just about broke even, but the Bowls Club could have accommodated over four times as many players. Where was everyone else?
The Annual Social is not meant to be for just the Committee, but that seems to have been largely the way it has turned out in recent years. To help us plan for future events, if any, do please spare a few moments to complete the following questionnaire and post or email it to Adrian Lloyd. It will also be placed on the Secretary’s blog and circulated on the e-group.

Thanks very much for putting this on the blog, Tom. I look forward to collating the replies – hopefully a good number in time for the next Committee meeting on 16 February. Free format comments by email will also be welcome from any who’d rather not complete the detailed questionnaire in full.
