The Club was founded in October 1971 as the Midland Veterans Athletic Club. The name was changed to the Midland Masters Athletic Club in 2006 to fall in line with modern day thinking on sports terminology.

We publish a Newsletter  4 times a year and members also have access to BMAF’s magazine White on red logo“Masters Athletics” online (note to receive a printed copy you must pay £10 per year, please see the attached: Masters ATHLETICS).

As a member you are automatically affiliated to the BMAF (British Masters Athletic Federation) and can enter their championships often at reduced entry fees. Also, through the BMAF you can enter international events around the world.

Throughout the year we organise our own championship events in road and track & field as well as handicaps, relays and social events.

  1. Hi is there anyway that you could check if I have paid this year’s membership, I really can’t remember if I have, and obvs don’t want to miss out on races because of an oversight by me.
    Thanks

  2. Hi, I would like to run in masters (veterans) events. I’m over 50, not in any club & unsure how I go about starting. I would appreciate any help. Many thanks in advance

    • Hi Phil, I am assuming you are in the West Midlands area? You can either join a local club and, to compete in some of the Midland Masters events (such as Championships) that aren’t generally open – join Midland Masters at the reduced rate of £16 or just join Midland Masters (as a 1st claim competing athlete) at the full rate of £30. Please see https://midlandmasters.com/about-us/how-to-join/ for how to join.

There may be events that you won’t be eligible to compete in if you are a 1st claim MMAC member (I don’t think they compete in a cross country league). I am about to be away on holiday very shortly so you would be best to contact our Membership Secretary, Graham Lamb on grahamhlamb@gmail.com, with any queries you have.

      Hope this helps!

  4. Hi there ,
I am a member of a 1st claim club and a member of a second claim masters club(Emac).
I just wondered if I was able to compete s for my 1st claim club in the midland masters league .
    Thanks very much ,
    Steve Thompson.

    • Hi Steve,
The Midland Vets League is separate from MMAC and has it’s own rules. You would need to find out if your club competes and get in touch with your team manager. MMAC compete and use some 2nd claim members, within the limits of the rules, but wouldn’t be able to use 2nd claim from EVAC, only from MMAC.

Is it definitely the league you are interested in (with only 1 league meet then the Final to go) or were you interested in competing in the inter area which, I believe, is this coming weekend?

      Thanks,
      Sue

  5. Hi guys I’m a 53 year old runner who runs for Team Derby Runner. How much would it cost to join. I’m a little confused as I have never run for two clubs.Could you help please.

    • Hi Mark,
Sorry it’s taken a while to get back to you. As you’re already a member of a UKA affiliated club (may be as well to double check with your club that they are affiliated), you will join Midland Masters (MMAC) as second claim. Basically, any competitions that Team Derby Runners do not partake in you should be able to compete in for MMAC. Details of how to join can be found here: https://midlandmasters.com/about-us/how-to-join/. It will cost you just £15 as a member of a UKA club if you opt to receive newsletters by email (the newsletter is also posted to this site). If you don’t already have one, you will have to create a member login on the BMAF online entry site. Full instructions are at the link above but, if you are unsure of anything or run into any problems please contact Irene Nicholls on irenenn@aol.com or get back to me here.

      Hope this helps.
      Best Regards,
      Sue Kneill-Boxley
