The following athletes from Midland Masters AC from took part in today’s Forest of Dean parkrun.
I am retired. I am a Life Member of Birchfield Harriers and have been Secretary & Membership Secretary of the Midland Masters AC for 9 years. I enjoy watching road & cross country races, photography and messing about on my PC.
yep, parkrun was launched at Brueton Park on the 24th but it’s still awaiting for someone to come forward from the local community & agree to run it!
there have been a couple of teething problems but hopefully, these have now all been ironed out & the third event will run smoothly…
Cannon Hill is expected to launch on the 28th of August & as Brueton has been ‘borrowing’ volunteers & Race Directors, it could potentially ‘fold’ unless a team of volunteers comes forward to take it up!
Thanks Phil for you comment. These things are always difficult to get going, so I hope it doesn’t fold. I am hoping to get there on a Saturday morning very soon.
Thank you Clive. I didn’t know about the Park Run in Solihull but I do now. It starts 24th July 2010. I’m tied up with ToughGuy™ that weekend but I’ll try to get there in subsequent weeks. I will post details on this blog as well. The Park Run idea certainly seems popular. I believe there may be one in Cannon Hill Park, Birmingham shortly?
Think your Solihull parkrun is about to, or did start last Saturday [10th July].
Good luck to all who take part. The one in Cardiff has been an excellent success, but then it’s probably on the fastest 5km course in the UK, but I’m biased! You should have both the population and athletic base to sustain and grow a very successful parkrun series, and of course nurture newcomers to the sport.
