Tom Morris

I am retired. I am a Life Member of Birchfield Harriers and have been Secretary & Membership Secretary of the Midland Masters AC for 9 years. I enjoy watching road & cross country races, photography and messing about on my PC.
Tom Morris has written 288 posts for Midland Masters Athletic Club

Important Change in contacts

I am no longer in the role of MMAC General & Membership Secretary.

Any membership; competition entry or general inquiries should in the first instance be directed to either the MMAC Chair, Irene Nicholls; email irenenn@aol.com or MMAC Treasurer, Martin Wilkinson; email mmac.treasurer@virginmedia.com for them to deal with.

Can I thank all the members who have contacted me individually for their very kind comments. It was very humbling… and much appreciated. The road since 2006 sometimes has been rocky but I have always tried to be fair and as efficient as I could. Sometimes membership queries have been very trying and occasionally, frustrating. But the job has always been rewarding. I wish MMAC and it’s members all the very best for the future and finally thanks the committee for their support over the years, particularly Irene, Martin and Margaret.

I now look forward to a more relaxed ‘retirement’

Tom Morris

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM YOUR CHAIR & MEMBERSHIP SECRETARY

I have informed the MMAC Committee of my resignation to take affect from the AGM. It is imperative that nominations are received prior to the AGM on the 26th April, in fact as soon as possible. Any member who feels that they can offer their help particularly in the area of membership subscriptions; event co-ordination; website maintenance; social media etc. should let us know immediately. Skills needed are some IT experience but not essential, however they should have a basic knowledge of Word and Excel and the ability to maintain electronic records (Windows/File Explorer or equivalent) and above all the ability to communicate.

We are not expecting one person to carry out all of the duties and a possible breakdown is as follows:-

  1. General Secretarial
  2. Membership – subscriptions etc.
  3. Online entries
  4. Race Organiser – application of race licenses etc.
  5. Maintenance of the official website (knowledge of programming NOT required as WordPress is very user friendly with plenty of “Help” available)
  6. Organisation of Social Media

There is an Honorarium of £200 per year for the Secretary & Membership Secretary’s position.

Tom Morris – 20th February 2015

Please contact Irene Nicholls, Chair on irenenn@aol.com

The Colin Simpson Memorial Handicap 2015

ENTRIES ARE NOW CLOSED

There are now only a few days left to get your entries in for the MMAC Annual Handicap over 5 miles. To date (20/01/2015) with just over 3 days to go we have only 15 entries from over 700 members. We do need your support if this event is to continue. This annual handicap used to be one of the most popular events that the club put on and we now commemorate our Treasurer of 40 years, Colin Simpson in the title of the event. It’s intended to be a fun competition and a change from the usual road championship events we usually organise. The ‘handicapper’ works hard to give fair handicaps and spends a lot of time on his calculations. Hence our strict closing date, which this year is 23rd January.

We do need your support … ENTER NOW

2014 in review – Happy New Year to All

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2014 annual report for this website.

Here’s an excerpt:

The concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 50,000 times in 2014. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 19 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO ALL

A Happy Christmas to all MMAC Members both past and present and also to Masters Athletes everywhere.
