Results from the Track & Field Championships 2011 held on Sunday, 12th June at Leicester are now published at http://ow.ly/5ipKf
In a brief break from National Masters Relay entries and Royal Weddings, I have
been able to update our “Fixtures” page. Of particular interest to our endurance athletes will be the BMAF 10k Track Championships which will incorporate our very own MMAC Championships. Not many of you have entered these in the past and it’s a chance to run the rare 10,000 m distance on the track. It will also allow entry to our full Track & Field Championships the following week in Leicester.
A direct link to the page is here … http://bit.ly/kiQRGu or just click on the “Fixtures” button.
Congratulations to all Midland Masters members who completed the marathon yesterday under difficult conditions. Well done.
A summary of their results appears on the London Marathon Page at http://bit.ly/faVmQO
I’ve only just found out the confusion on how many legs are to be run for the M35-44 & M45-54 age groups.
The entry form said 4 legs but the Newsletter said 3 legs for the M45-54 and I didn’t spot it. Therefore some Clubs have entered 4 athletes and some 3. The decision has been made to keep to the M35-44 as 4 legs and the M45-54 as 3 legs, this avoids teams turning up with a runner short.
We are trying to keep to the BMAF 10 year age groups and the changes have caused some confusion.
Apologies for this error and I hope that it doesn’t spoil your participation.
One final appeal…. please do your best to attend the AGM after the presentation of prizes for the relays.
The Brueton parkrun goes from strength to strength and is an ideal training spin whatever you are training for! And whatever ability. Those members local to Solihull should take advantage of this free weekly 5k run. You can even walk round with the dog if you wish to. No problems.
Register online, print your personal bar code, bring it along for the 9.00 am start, run/walk, collect place tag, have bar codes scanned and that’s it!!
Results will be available later in the day. Register as a member of MMAC and I will get all your results to post on our ‘parkrun’ page.

Hello All,
Once again, I have produced a quiz to help raise some very much needed to funds for a second ground for my local cricket club. Having bought the land, levelled it, seeded it and laid the square, we are now in the process of b
uilding a pavilion and, although we will be receving some grants and will be taking out a loan with the ECB, we will still be about £120,000 short, which we have to find somehow. As they say at Tesco, however, “every little helps” and by purchasing a quiz, you could help us realise our dream. It would also help if you tell your friends, colleagues, etc about it.
As in years before, all the answers are the names of places in Great Britain. There are 100 questions and the closing date is 31st October. Whoever gets the most correct answers will win £50. Quiz sheets cost £1 each and may be obtained by sending a SAE and £1 (coin or cheque payable to Whittington Cricket Club) to me, Barrie Taylor, 23 The Spires, Lichfield, Staffs, WS14 9RP
Thank you,
Barrie
The results from yesterday’s XC Championships can be found on the dedicated page on this Blog http://wp.me/PDLtv-bu
This includes a printable PDF version.
Thanks to everyone concerned and all the athletes who took part. Please try to support all our events that are organised with you in mind…..
1st Claim Members – IMPORTANT READING
An important change to how England Athletics handles the registration scheme comes into place on the 1st April 2011. This will affect ALL our members but particularly our 1st Claim Members who we register. Plastic Competition Licences (registration cards) will no longer be sent out to athletes thus saving a considerable amount in production and postal costs. They will be replaced with an E-Card from April 2011. This will keep the annual fees down to a minimum to cover insurance and welfare. Each athlete registered will receive a welcome email and their Unique Registration Number (URN) immediately upon receipt and processing of the Registration fee, which will enable them to print an E-Card from their computer. Any 1st Claim Members who do not have access to a computer or do not have an email address should consider carefully if they have a friend or relative who could receive the email for you. I would not use this email address for anything else. Otherwise, I as Club Secretary, will act on your behalf and provide you with the URN (as I do now) and the E-Card. This new system should make it easier for members to log onto their portal to manage their own data thus reducing my work! Having a valid email address will allow athletes to retrieve lost E-Cards and URNs at no extra cost or additional work by me!
The success of this scheme will depend on having a valid/active email address. It is imperative that email addresses are updated if there is a change either by the individual on their portal OR by informing me. The email address will become a mandatory field on the EA database from April 2011 so I would appreciate that 1st Claim Members who currently do not have an email address but who have kind friends could let me know.
Tom Morris – Membership Secretary
A pleasant day weather wise greeted us this morning if a little chilly. Not that would have worried the 15,000 odd participants of this 3rd running of the half marathon in Britain’s second City.
I stood at the 1 mile mark in Digbeth to capture a few images and despite the runners taking a slight short cut round the right hand turn, in and out of traffic cones and central reservations, no one tripped and no incidents. Phew, that was a relief. I think the marshal at that point didn’t fancy trying to re-direct nearly 15,000 runners! Can’t say I blamed him.
Back up to Broad Street to see if I could get more images and after fighting through the crowds managed to get a clear spot. Unfortunately missed the winners but managed to get a few including a couple of MMAC members.
As more and more runners finished, the congestion around the area of the Symphony Hall in Broad Street got quite unbearable and I understand from later radio reports that runners were queuing up to cross the finish line… not good.
