I’ve only just found out the confusion on how many legs are to be run for the M35-44 & M45-54 age groups.
The entry form said 4 legs but the Newsletter said 3 legs for the M45-54 and I didn’t spot it. Therefore some Clubs have entered 4 athletes and some 3. The decision has been made to keep to the M35-44 as 4 legs and the M45-54 as 3 legs, this avoids teams turning up with a runner short.
We are trying to keep to the BMAF 10 year age groups and the changes have caused some confusion.
Apologies for this error and I hope that it doesn’t spoil your participation.
One final appeal…. please do your best to attend the AGM after the presentation of prizes for the relays.
With only a week to go all the hard work should have been put in, so an easy week ahead!
Can I wish all the members who were successful in gaining a Club place this year the very best of luck for the big day. I hope all goes well with no problems and hope you all have a stress free pre-race week. In addition to the 5 members who were lucky for a Club place after being rejected, I’m sure we will have many who will be representing their UKA Clubs. If you let me know I will endeavor to recognize you on the results page http://bit.ly/faVmQO
Our 5 members are: –
I’ll be busy at our relays and AGM but will record the marathon to watch later. I shall be looking closely for the MMAC Club Vests, white with the vertical red stripe. Run well and achieve your goals.
The Brueton parkrun goes from strength to strength and is an ideal training spin whatever you are training for! And whatever ability. Those members local to Solihull should take advantage of this free weekly 5k run. You can even walk round with the dog if you wish to. No problems.
Register online, print your personal bar code, bring it along for the 9.00 am start, run/walk, collect place tag, have bar codes scanned and that’s it!!
Results will be available later in the day. Register as a member of MMAC and I will get all your results to post on our ‘parkrun’ page.

A successful championships took place yesterday in Perry Park, Birmingham. I have reproduced a message from the MMAC Chair, Irene Nicholls, to the organisers….
“Hello everyone, congratulations on a most successful Championships today.
Please accept my personal thanks and that of BMAF & MMAC for once more providing a very supportive and professional team effort – I hope that the athletes appreciate the work and planning that goes into these events. It has been a pleasure working with you all.
Wishing you a successful season and again many thanks” ………………..Irene
A full set of results can be seen on the XC page on the BMAF Blog, please go to http://wp.me/PQ0Ea-4a
This is the last call for any member who has not yet renewed their subscriptions for 2011 to do so now please. Any renewals received by me after the 31st March 2011 will be classed as rejoining and you may miss an edition of our Newsletter (if mailed) and a copy of “Masters Athletics“.
There will be a strict cut-off date of the 31st March 2010, in practice it may be a few days before. This allows me to update the BMAF before the next edition of “Masters Athletics” goes to press.
Please fill in the renewal form that has appeared in the last 3 Newsletters or download one here: – Renewal Rejoining Form A5.V5
Make cheques payable to “MMAC”
You have been warned………….
There are still volunteers needed to help with marshalling the BMAF XC Championships to be held on the 12th March in Perry Park, Birmingham.
Birchfield Harriers who so kindly agreed to co-organise this event with Midland Masters AC, have a very big XC event the week before and cannot be expected to supply all the marshals for both events on consecutive weekends. I am therefore once more appealing to any members who perhaps are injured and cannot compete in the event to consider helping us out. The first of 2 races starts at 12 noon and marshals will be required to “sign” in at no later than 11.15 am in the Birchfield Harriers Club Room at the Alexander Stadium.
It is an easy course to marshal but we do need at least another 10 volunteers.
If you can help then please either make a comment on this post giving your email address or contact me at mmac.sec@blueyonder.co.uk
Hello All,
Once again, I have produced a quiz to help raise some very much needed to funds for a second ground for my local cricket club. Having bought the land, levelled it, seeded it and laid the square, we are now in the process of b
uilding a pavilion and, although we will be receving some grants and will be taking out a loan with the ECB, we will still be about £120,000 short, which we have to find somehow. As they say at Tesco, however, “every little helps” and by purchasing a quiz, you could help us realise our dream. It would also help if you tell your friends, colleagues, etc about it.
As in years before, all the answers are the names of places in Great Britain. There are 100 questions and the closing date is 31st October. Whoever gets the most correct answers will win £50. Quiz sheets cost £1 each and may be obtained by sending a SAE and £1 (coin or cheque payable to Whittington Cricket Club) to me, Barrie Taylor, 23 The Spires, Lichfield, Staffs, WS14 9RP
Thank you,
Barrie
