Torch Relay to celebrate the MMAC 40th Anniversary

As part of the 40th Anniversary Celebrations, John Walker, our Road/XC Secretary, is organising a ‘Torch Relay’ from our birthplace at Halesowen to Tamworth where we are holding our celebrations. John is hoping that the whole relay (not a race) can be run in pairs for safety reasons and currently we are short of runners. The total distance will be in the region of 26 – 30 miles and will start at around 9.00 am from Halesowen and is aimed to finish with a lap of the track at Tamworth Athletics Stadium.

So, we are after volunteers to run to make this venture a success. Please contact John Walker on 07831592327 and leave a message if necessary stating the minimum distance you would like to run and John will contact you with all the details. Let’s make this venture, which is part of our celebrations, a total success….. contact John Walker NOW.

MMAC Relay – Results

Apologies for the slight delay in getting the results from yesterday’s relay’s up on the website. As some of you know, I have been taking the entries for the National Masters Relays in May and the closing date coincided with the weekend of our own relays. The upshot of this was that today the priority had to be processing the National online entries. However, I have now managed to get them uploaded on our dedicated page. The following link will take you straight there http://tinyurl.com/cqkksxg in a new window but for the idle click here…. Road Relays Results V2

MMAC Annual 5 Mile Handicap

MMAC Annual 5 Mile Handicap. Too late now to enter our handicap 5 miler taking place this coming Sunday at Kingshurst, Birmingham within the Centurion Grand Prix Series. We have received 22 men’s entries and 7 women’s entries. A little disappointing when you work out what percentage this is of the total membership. However, we are all going to have fun, don’t forget the thermals!!Image

This is what other runners had to say about last years event …

From the Runners World web site:

Congratulations Malvern Joggers on the excellent organisation of your inaugural race!

Seven of us travelled over from Amazing Feet RC in Kidderminster, and were very glad we did. This was a very friendly and extremely well organised race over what turned out to be quite a tough course, which included two long climbs. Great value also with a Malvern Joggers water bottle as a keepsake, free post-race massage and a free hotdog / burger at the local pub.

Well done Malvern Joggers – see you next year.

Ian Hall
