Jessica Coulson a researcher at Manchester Metropolitan University is currently undergoing a research project looking at bone health in Master Athletes above the age of 60 years old.
For the study they require 300 master athletes aged 60 and over competing in sprints/middle or distance events. The study does not involve the athletes having to travel or change anything only to wear a small monitor known as an accelerometer for 7 consecutive days, not at night, and then they send it back in the free postage envelope which is provided.

It is with regret that I announce that John Walker sadly passed away last night, Thursday, 19th June 2015, after a long illness aged 76 years.
John was a founder member of Centurion Running Club formerly Centurion Joggers in the 70’s and was a prolific organiser of road races in the area including the first World Veterans 10k & 25k Championships held at the NEC. He was also a prominent coach helping many athletes to achieve their ambitions. No mean performer himself, John always ran until a debilitating virus curtailed his activities.
John was involved for many years with MMAC and helped set up the course for the National Masters Open Road Relays held every year at Sutton Park.
Our condolences go to his wife, Janet, to his family and many friends in athletics.
Funeral details to be announced.
